Everybody’s a DSP Recruiter
Recruiting and retaining Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) is one of the biggest challenges facing disability service providers today, but recruitment doesn’t belong solely to HR. At its core, the best recruitment tool we have is our own passion for the work. When we authentically share why this work matters, that enthusiasm is contagious and often inspires others to join the field. In this interactive session, we’ll explore how every staff member can play a role in strengthening the workforce. Participants will practice developing a an elevator pitch about the impact of DSP work, identify common barriers that make recruitment harder, and discuss matching DSP strengths to customer needs. We’ll also explore how tools like social media and everyday conversations can become powerful recruitment strategies. Finally, participants will identify common organizational bottlenecks that slow hiring and brainstorm practical solutions. Attendees will leave with concrete ideas to help build a culture where everyone is part of the recruitment effort.
