Reconnect With Your ‘Why’ in a Time of Burnout and Stress

August 1, 2025    1:30PM  -  3PM

Stress is defined as a “nonspecific response of the body to any demand” (Selye, 1936). In our modern society, stress has become a word associated with pathology and mental health issues, which can drive mindsets and behaviors that can misalign with our values. Clarifying the definitions of burnout and stress and understanding the neurobiological components of stress reactions empowers an individual to respond (rather than react) in ways that align with their purpose and values. From positive psychology (Seligman, 2002) rediscovering fulfillment and purpose by reflecting on how they contribute to a purpose greater than themselves, a person can experience a meaningful life.
