Professional Boundaries in a People Driven Profession

This session will discuss the importance of establishing and maintaining professional boundaries with the clients we serve and their families. This session will cover what boundaries are, how ethics ties into the boundaries we set, what types of boundaries we should establish, and why they are important. This session will also cover how to set boundaries, danger signs to watch for, and discuss several scenarios and apply topics discussed to them.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Define boundaries and how they apply to the services they provide.
  • Identify how boundaries and ethics are connected, how to establish boundaries, and why they are important.
  • Identify danger signs that could cause boundaries to be crossed.
  • Apply topics discussed to a variety of scenarios and discuss steps to take to prevent and respond to similar situations.
