This is an introductory overview of the field of art therapy including history, development, major theories, and applications of art therapy, as well as an experiential component.
Learning Objectives:
- Basic understanding of the history and types of art therapy, including Knowledge of the stages of graphic development
- Learning how art and psychology are integrated in art therapy
- Basic understanding of the physical and psychological properties of art media commonly used in art therapy and how to speak through the art along with Left vs right brain education and uses and importance of creativity
- Exposure to different art directives as well as hands on experiential
