Commitment to Community Luncheon

Commitment to Community Awards will be given out at this special luncheon to recognize and honor significant accomplishments of individuals, organizations, and businesses who value individuals with disabilities as important contributors to their communities. This event applauds the commitment of our honorees and provides visibility and recognition for their leadership and vision. Recipients are selected by a volunteer committee comprised of community leaders from the public and private sectors. Nominations are accepted from May through August and open to all Idahoans to help recognize the often unsung accomplishments taking place through Idaho’s diverse communities. Four awards are given out each year: Building Bridges, Opening Doors, Plays Well with Others and Lifetime Achievement.

Nominees possess three or more of the following criteria as fitting for the award category for which they are nominated:

  • Inspire others to get involved, takes responsibility, or assumes leadership roles to make positive changes for individuals with disabilities
  • Welcome diversity of ability, age and culture
  • Encourage and educate others to the value of supporting and respecting individuals with disabilities
  • Impact the lives of others through positive actions
  • Are proven leaders who collaborates well with other groups
  • Seek to accommodate and include all community members
