Balancing Care: Ethically Assessing and Mitigating the Stress-Burnout Cycle – Part 1

This workshop will look at research on burnout and compassion fatigue for providers while exploring various factors that influence how susceptible one is to experiencing burnout. Specifically, attachment styles, cultural and diversity perspective, personality types, and personal life experiences will be reviewed. Through self-exploration and group discussions participants will gain insight to their personal burnout factors, signs, and symptoms leading to an in-depth process for healthy ways to overcome burnout and compassion fatigue. Participants will gain understanding of how to support others in decreasing stress.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will learn 3 factors that impact care providers level of burnout
  • Attendees will be able to identify ethical concerns of providing care when experiencing burnout
  • Attendees will create an individual plan for overcoming burnout
