An Integrative Experience – Applying Polyvagal Theory into Practice Part 1

A brief introduction into the integrative experiences of the autonomic nervous system and how trauma affects our ability to connect with others through the lens of Polyvagal Theory/Trauma Informed practices. This presentation will help mental health professionals and community based providers learn how trauma is expressed through the body’s nervous system, i.e. flight or fight, dissociation, or social engagement/connection.

Learning Objectives:

1. Overview of Polyvagal Theory (PVT) and the Neuroscience behind it

2. Discovering your body in noticing whether your are expressing safe and supportive social cues

3. Application of PVT in everyday situations (Therapeutic settings, community settings, hospital settings, and school settings)

4. Become informed, learn something new, and have fun!
