Connection Before Correction and What it Means For Professionals
This session explores why meaningful progress with neurodivergent children begins with connection, not correction. Participants will learn how relational safety, co-regulation, and trust shape a child’s capacity to learn, communicate, and cope with challenges. We will examine signs of dysregulation, reframe behavior as communication, and practice child-affirming strategies that strengthen connection during both calm moments and moments of overwhelm. Attendees will leave with practical tools to integrate connection-focused, neurodiversity-affirming care into treatment plans while honoring autonomy, reducing stress responses, and supporting authentic engagement.
