J-Jaye Hurley joined the Autism Speaks on the Service and Supports team in 2011 as the Southeast Regional Autism Response Team Associate. To best meet the needs of people with autism and their families, J-Jaye and the ART team provide critical access to information, tools, and resources throughout the lifespan; the team responded to over 80,000 individual contacts from the autism community in 2018. J-Jaye is a parent advocate for her son, Jackson, who has complex medical and educational needs, including severe autism.
Recent speaking engagements include the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s workshop for children with disabilities and complex health needs and a Congressional panel. She serves on the exceptional student’s board in her local public school district and helps provide special education training and support to local organizations in the Atlanta area. Prior to her work at Autism Speaks, Mrs. Hurley was a high school English and Theatre Arts teacher. J-Jaye graduated summa cum laude with a BA from the university of Mississippi. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband (Ryan) and children, Jackson (age 13) and Reese (age 6).
