Ethics in the Helping Professions

Striving to have a full knowledge and understanding of ethics, and best practices when Human Services Professionals are interacting with others is imperative to maintaining professionalism and trust in the community. This is the foundation for all the choices a helping professional faces on a daily basis. Operating from a strong ethical stance helps gain and maintain the sacred trust Human Service Professional need in order to successfully be agents of change in people’s lives.
  1. Through the use of mock examples, participants will be given the opportunity to identify what constitutes an ethical dilemma
  2. Participants will learn how to explore and identify possible ethical dilemmas in their own workplace
  3. By working in collaborative discussion groups, participants will be able to discuss strong boundaries, and appropriate ethical decisions and outcomes for the mock scenarios, thus strengthening their own ethical awareness in the process.
