Therapeutic After-School and Summer Programs (TASSP)

August 14, 2020    10:30 AM  -  12:00 PM

Therapeutic After-School and Summer Programs (TASSP) is a blending of creative, expressive, and/or experiential programs with a traditional behavioral health service.  The goal of TASSP is for a child to practice skills learned in therapy in a school, after school, or recreational setting.  A licensed clinical therapist collaborates with an expressive and/or experiential program facilitator in activities such as art therapy, music therapy, equine therapy, horticulture therapy, play therapy, STEAM/STEM and others to help the child attain his/her goals.  Examples of potential goals include regulation of mood, improving parent/child relationships, and increasing self-esteem.

During this presentation, the participants will:

  1. Gain exposure to TASSP efforts across the state of Idaho
  2. See examples of a TASSP program in action
  3. Acquire ideas on how to operationalize TASSP in their regions
