From birth throughout life, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) strives to enrich and protect the lives of our state’s citizens. This is done by attending to complex social, economic, and individual issues, often helping people in crisis situations. The IDHW has been instrumental in providing a number of services to adults and children with developmental disabilities. These services include: physical and occupational therapy, housing and living supports, chore services, employment support, environmental modifications, home delivered meals, nursing services, respite care, habilitative supports, family education, crisis intervention, and in-school supports. Together these programs work to strengthen Idaho families and promote self-reliance.
